Important changes to Challenge Gift Cards
From 1 August 2025, Challenge Gift Cards will no longer be available for purchase. This is because they operate on the MTA Gift Card platform, and MTA Gift Cards are being retired on that date.
What does this mean for existing gift cards?
Any Challenge Gift Cards that were activated before 1 August 2025, will still be valid and can be used until the expiry date printed on the card.
What are the alternatives?
We're currently developing our own new gift card solution. In the interim, paper vouchers will be available for purchase and use at Challenge Service Stations around New Zealand.
Checking your card balance
For Gift Cards that were activated prior to 1 August 2025, you can check the balance of your card online anytime via the MTA Shop.
